AP: Term limit decision may be challenged

University of Nevada Regent Howard Rosenberg is weighing a challenge to last week’s Nevada Supreme Court ruling that he and 20 other elected officials in the state are not allowed to run for re-election this fall, the AP is reporting.

"I am angry. I am hurt. I just think what's been done is wrong," said Rosenberg "This business of selectively applying what they call the law is really annoying."

Aside from Rosenberg, those removed from the ballot include Clark County Commissioner Bruce Woodbury and several state school and town board members.

The court, however, ruled separately that 13 other lawmakers elected in 1996 are allowed to run for re-election this year.

But Rosenberg disputes the court’s reasoning, saying, "An election is an election. It isn't an election when you're sworn in or when you take office. All of us were elected at the same time. That's when the polls close."

Rosenberg was elected to the university’s Board of Regents in 1996. He is a professor of art.
