Can Jill Derby beat U.S. Rep. Dean Heller (R-Carson City)?  The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee seems to think so with their addition of Derby to the "Red to Blue" program for targeted congressional districts.

With almost a 7 to 1 fundraising advantage, the DCCC now has the luxury of targeting races where they traditionally have no chance, such as the Heller seat.

Is the Democratic sweep so widespread that Heller could lose, or is this a ploy to make him play defense?  The numbers in the district still signal that it is the latter.

One politico summed it up by saying "It is this simple...if this race is winnable for Derby, then Barack Obama shouldn't spend a nickel in this state because he'd have it wrapped up.  No chance she wins unless it is a Democrat landslide of historic proportions."

The odds are against that much-needed landslide for Derby, but this is no ordinary year.
