American Future Fund ad hits Reid on energy

A new radio ad from the conservative advocacy group American Future Fund knocking U.S. Senate Majority Harry Reid's (D-Searchlight) energy positions began airing Friday around the state.

The ad -- called "What will Harry say?" -- centers around Reid's upcoming speech at the Democratic National Convention next week in Denver.

The ad says Reid's speech on energy will likely not address what it calls the energy failures of his tenure -- including recent moves by congressional Democrats to block a vote on expanded offshore drilling.

In a statement announcing the ad, AFF spokesman Tim Albrecht said Reid has been unwilling to allow a vote on " a comprehensive, common-sense solution" to the nation's energy challenges, citing his resistence to offshore drilling and expanded oil shale exploration as proof.

“I am sure Senator Reid will have a cheering section at the Democrat convention, but the American people are jeering at high gas prices,”  Albrecht said. “And thanks to Senator Reid’s obstruction and inaction in the Senate, Americans unfortunately continue to grapple with skyrocketing energy costs.”

The radio ad can be heard below.
