DENVER - U.S. Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) ended his short-lived presidential campaign before Nevada’s January Democratic caucus. But today, one top Nevada Democrat said that as a vice presidential candidate, Biden could help deliver the Silver State for the Democrats come November.

“Senator Biden absolutely helps us,” Steven Horsford, the minority leader in the state Senate, told PolitickerNV.com moments after the Nevada delegates finished a breakfast meeting at the Marriott Hotel this morning. “He worked very hard in the caucus, he had a very strong campaign in Nevada.”

Horsford, whose 4th district seat occupies the Clark County area, has been a prominent supporter of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. Horsford said that, in addition to his strong effort in Nevada, Biden’s security expertise made him a strong addition to the ticket.

“(Biden’s) experience in foreign policy really helps to add to Sen. Obama’s vision for how we end the war in Iraq, focus on Afghanistan, and help to restore American’s position in the world.”
