[img_assist|nid=1679|title=U.S. Sens. Harry Reid and Barack Obama|desc=Getty Images Photo|link=none|align=none|width=420|height=308]DENVER - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Searchlight) is almost certain to be atop the list of targeted candidates in 2010.

But today, Reid’s son, Clark County Commissioner Rory Reid, told PolitickerNV.com that the landscape was shaping up favorably for the senator.

“Generally, the party is as organized as it’s ever been,” Reid said. “You had all the presidential candidates in Nevada using a lot of resources, developing their own campaign organizations. And because of that there’s an infrastructure that’s never existed before.”

As majority leader, Reid has become a favorite punching bag for Republicans. Though his re-election is more than two years away, Republicans have already begun targeting the Nevada Democrat. In recent weeks American Future Fund, an independent conservative-minded organization, has been hammering Reid in a series of advertisements airing across the Silver State.

It’s not yet clear which Republican would be willing to step up to the plate against Reid, though U.S. Rep. Jon Porter (R-Henderson) is a frequently mentioned possibility.

When asked who he thought his father would face off against, Reid said it was too early to know.

The younger Reid, who has indicated he is interested in running for governor in 2010, was here today to attend a breakfast for the Nevada delegation.
