Another report on the Great Californian Invasion

The AP is reporting on what we've been observing for a while -- the waves of bored Californians leaving their state in order to volunteer in a more competitive political environment.

Perhaps the most telling line from the story: "Some in the Obama camp say they have even returned to California to focus on local races because the campaign has more than enough volunteers."

Poll: Obama by 10

According to a Suffolk University poll, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) leads U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in Nevada by 48 to 39 percent. Including those who are undecided but leaning towards one candidate, Obama leads 50 to 40 percent.

Note the enthusiasm gap: Thirty one percent of McCain supporters say their support is "more of a vote against Obama," while only 10 percent of Obama supporters say the same of McCain.

The San Francisco Chronicle is paying attention, too, with a write-up on the impact Nevada will have on this year's race -- and particularly the growing influence of Latino voters.

Poll: Titus holds narrow lead

Dina Titus (D-Las Vegas) holds a narrow 47 to 45 percent lead -- well within the 5 percent margin of error -- over U.S. Rep. Jon Porter (R-Las Vegas) according to a recent Research 2000 survey

The poll, commisioned by the liberal blog DailyKos.com, was conducted between Oct. 20 and 22.

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) holds a similar 48 to 44 percent lead over U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in the district.

Dems take early lead

The early voting numbers from the weekend look terrible for the GOP.

The fact that Democrats are ahead in Clark County is not a surprise.  But the roughly 2-to-1 turnout margin in the districts of U.S. Rep Jon Porter (R-Henderson), state Sen. Joe Heck (R-Henderson) and state Sen. Bob Beers (R-Las Vegas) spells serious trouble for the GOP.
