Martin to withdraw for CD3, run for Assembly 13

HENDERSON-Andrew Martin will end his campaign for Congressional District 3 today, according to aides, and will instead challenge Republican Chad Christensen in the 13th Assembly District.

Martin, a Las Vegas-based accountant, announced for CD3 last year, but his campaign was largely overlooked by Democratic heavyweights U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Rep. Shelley Berkley, Nevada Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, in favor of former Clark County chief deputy district attorney Robert Daskas.

Staff confirms, Daskas 'bowing out'

Staff for congressional candidate Robert Daskas have confirmed that he will be dropping his bid to challenge Jon Porter for the 3rd Congressional District seat.

An announcement is expected very soon.

Robert Daskas was courted by the DCCC to run for the seat after Nevada Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus, former Speaker Richard Perkins, and Clark Couny Commission Chairman Rory Reid all declined to make a run. Reportedly, the DCCC is already speaking with Titus again.

Daskas dropping out leaves accountant Andrew Martin the only announced Democrat in the race.

LAS VEGAS-Earlier this week, Democratic 3rd Congressional District candidate Andrew Martin apologized to Robert Daskas, the other Democrat in the race, over the phone for a "mistake" in a press release last weekend attacking Daskas' performance at a Carpenters' Union endorsement meeting in late March, according to Martin spokesperson Vin Gopal.  Today, Martin's campaign had more to say about that meeting, however, alleging that Jim Sala, the carpenters' Nevada political director, played favorites at the meeting and spread "misinformation" abou
