Dems say Gibbons trying to ‘wag the dog’ with special session

LAS VEGAS - While some are reluctant to characterize Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons' motives behind calling a special session of the Nevada legislature Friday, some Democratic legislators believe Gibbons is only calling it to distract media attention from bad publicity surrounding his divorce.

Special session bad for incumbents' fundraising, shouldn't hurt Titus

LAS VEGAS - Gov. Jim Gibbons' announcement today that he will issue an executive order for a special session of the state legislature next week is a warning to incumbent legislators to get their contributions in quick, the spigot's shutting off.

Edwards campaign fires back on Obama memo

The Nevada campaign of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards is strongly taking issue with a state-of-the-campaign presentation that Barack Obama campaign manager David Plouffe released today.

One Edwards aide said the presentation, which showed Obama performing well in key primary states, was part of a broader Obama attempt to combat what the aide described as an Edwards surge in Iowa.
