Dems say Gibbons trying to ‘wag the dog’ with special session

LAS VEGAS - While some are reluctant to characterize Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons' motives behind calling a special session of the Nevada legislature Friday, some Democratic legislators believe Gibbons is only calling it to distract media attention from bad publicity surrounding his divorce.

RGJ obtains Gibbons’ cell phone, text message records

LAS VEGAS-Annjeanette Damon of the Reno Gazette-Journal is reporting that Gov. Jim Gibbons used his state-owned cell phone to send more than 850 text messages in one month last year to the woman with whom he has been accused of having an affair.

Angle mulls challenging Heller

Las Vegas- Former Republican Assemblywoman Sharron Angle is contemplating another run for the 2nd district congressional seat currently occupied by Rep. Dean Heller. Angle, who currently chairs “We the People Nevada,” a state political action committee dedicated to setting a new property tax cap, may wait until as late as May to make a final decision.

President Bush on Las Vegas husting

Las Vegas- President Bush touched down in Las Vegas last night ahead of a half day of events in the city Thursday. The president is expected to speak this morning before the Nevada Policy Research Institute and to host a fundraiser at a home owned by Sheldon Adelson, Chairman of the Sands Corp.

Dawn Gibbons throws support to Romney

The RGJ’s Anjeanette Damon reports that First Lady Dawn Gibbons has endorsed Mitt Romney.

“First Lady Dawn Gibbons announced her endorsement today of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. She shared the stage with him at his Reno rally. Asked if her husband shared her opinion, she answered: ‘You'll have to ask him.’”
