Freedom's Watch to disband

Freedom’s Watch, the 501 (c4) organization heavily funded by Las Vegas Sands Corp. Chairman Sheldon Adelson and hyped as the conservative answer to MoveOn.org, is shutting its doors.

Ed Patru, Vice President of Communications for Freedom’s Watch, said in an interview that the organization would be effectively ceasing its operations at the end of the year.

NRCC's Cole has kind words for Adelson organization

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The participation of the conservative advocacy group Freedom’s Watch in House races across the country this cycle is a good thing for the Republican Party, National Republican Congressional Committee chair Tom Cole said in an interview here this week.

“I’m glad they’re out there,” Cole said of the organization, which is heavily funded by Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson. “I’m glad that some people understand what the stakes are and are willing to come and help.”

WSJ: Freedom’s Watch, Adelson could prove critical

Las Vegas casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson and his right-leaning advocacy group Freedom's Watch could be key in financing Republican campaigns across the country, according to a story in the Wall Street Journal.

As the paper wrote:

In the Las Vegas casinos that made Sheldon Adelson one of the country's richest men, a "whale" is someone willing to bet millions. Republicans are hoping Mr. Adelson will be their whale this election.
