Why would John Ensign endorse a union lobbyist over a fiscally conservative Republican?

That's the question posed if you put a couple of last-minute mail pieces together in the race for Las Vegas City Council. Turns out Glenn Trowbridge was a union lobbyist (and partied at the police union HQ on primary night!) and that Sen. John Ensign has endorsed him. I have posted the pieces at right.

Goodman loves Trowbridge; union bosses out to get Anthony

Those are the claims in the latest mailers in the increasingly heated race to replace Larry Brown on the Las Vegas City Council. Mayor Oscar Goodman is lending his name to the Glenn Trowbridge campaign while Stavros Anthony is claiming union bosses inside the PPA are out to get him. See mailers at right.

State Supreme Court punts in city of LV vs. Culinary case

High court says it will not intervene in case of ballot questions Las Vegas City Council refused to allow on ballot even though they qualified. Order says District Court was right venue and high court "not appropriate forum in which to resolve disputed questions of fact."
