Reno newspaper appeals Gibbons e-mail case

The Reno Gazette-Journal will appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court a court decision preventing the newspaper from obtaining 98 e-mails sent by Gov. Jim Gibbons.

Gibbons agrees to turn over six e-mails

Gov. Jim Gibbons has agreed to turn over six e-mails sought by the Reno Gazette-Journal. The judge had delayed an order for the governor to turn over the six messages to permit an appeal by Gibbons.

Derby trails Heller by 5 percent in new poll

A new Reno Gazette-Journal/KTVN pollĀ finds Democratic challenger Jill Derby (D-Carson City) is within striking distance of incumbent U.S. Rep. Dean Heller (R-Carson City) in theĀ 2nd Congressional District.

Derby, a former state Democratic chairwoman, trails Heller 47 percent to 42 percent, according to the poll. However, the 5 percent margin of error and recent registration swings in the 2nd District favoring Democrats suggest the poll could actually be good news for the challenger.
