Nevada: Sen. John Ensign

Republican Sen. John Ensign was never much blamed for his party’s electoral losses in the Senate in 2008, when he was chairman of the electoral committee and handed Democrats a nearly filibuster-proof chamber.

The national media may be largely indifferent to the sudden loss of Danny Gans -- here's my AFP wire piece on this but the rest of the national press has not taken an interest -- but Las Vegas is clearly in mourning today. Also, I'll be on Las Vegas One at 9 p.m. PT tonight with host Jeff Gillan to euologize Gans.

Republican Sen. John Ensign has engineered a major political coup that could leave the District of Columbia with weaker gun laws than those of Las Vegas and thwart a long-sought effort to give residents of the capital voting rights in Congress.
