Just Go to MrJerz.org for the Cobb and Yucca Stuff

I guess the saying "you snooze, you lose" does have merit.  I received an email survey from Nevada assemblyman Ty Cobb (AD-26) Wednesday and started a post, but left it in draft.  I was mainly going to talk about his use of technology, he does send stuff somewhat frequently, as well as his soliciting input on his plan for accepting Yucca Mountain.  But by the time I got around to it today, I found that not only had MrJerz already posted it, but he also included a picture of said survey, some thoughts on Yucca himself and generally did a lot better job than I was planning.  So go over there and check it out.

When joblessness is good, Part 2

It turns out poor displaced Yucca Mountain workers aren’t the only ones having a hard time finding work. Some attorneys who worked in the George B. Bush administration are also having some troubles, according to the New York Times.
For example, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales — who presided over a Justice Department that legalized torture, [...]

When joblessness is good

Leave it to our friends at the Review-Journal to uncover the one story nobody else was really talking about: The unemployment caused by the killing of Yucca Mountain. On Saturday, we were treated to the sad tale of John and Christina Pfabe, who blamed the legislative skills of our own U.S. Sen. Harry Reid for [...]

What if they DID build a nuke waste dump at Yucca Mountain? And a unicorn FELL INSIDE?

I don’t know why that thought gripped me with such feverish intensity. Probably because I drank so much coffee today I’m having waking dreams that I can levitate.
Anyway, someone has clearly already considered the terrifying nuke waste + unicorn formula (click for a larger, unicornier view):

Desert mountain, glowing water

Yucca Mountain dead.
With a whimper, not a bang.
But I’m not picky.

Stuff from all over

How about a quick Sunday supper of Quick Hits? Here we go!

So, Barack Obama’s presidential campaign said it would withdraw the Yucca Mountain licensing application if he won. He did. But the Obama administration is not withdrawing the licensing application. Yet, they assure us that Yucca is dead. So why don’t we feel reassured?
Speaking of [...]

Once flatlining, now on life support

The Obama administration remains steadfastly opposed to the Yucca Mountain project, but new Energy Secretary Steven Chu is leaving the door ajar for the government to continue seeking a license needed to open the nuclear waste dump site. In remarks to the Las Vegas Sun on Thursday, Chu declined to say he was pulling the license application pending before the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. President Barack Obama’s campaign pledged last year to kill the application, which is widely opposed in Nevada.
