SUNDAY SHOWS: Clegg, Bosse introduce campaigns; ed funding still a topic

Grant Bosse and Bob Clegg, both Republicans running for Congress in the second district, characterized themselves as experienced and prepared for the job in separate interviews this morning.

The pair appeared on WMUR's "Close-Up" where they introduced themselves and their newly formed campaigns. Bosse is a former journalist, Republican operative, and for the past five years a staffer for U.S. Sen. John E. Sununu (R-Waterville Valley). Clegg is a state Senator from Hudson.

Their interviews touched on the economy, immigration and health care. It was on that last issue that Bosse turned the television show into a press release. Clegg mentioned that health insurance companies should be mandated to pay for certain prevention treatments. Bosse says this goes against the nature of the free market.

Clegg branded himself as a self-made man who has money to spend on the race. Bosse said he wasn't focused on money or polls right now. Instead he is focused building his organization of supporters in the district.

On MyTv's "Political Chowder with Arnie Arnesen" state Representatives David Hess (R-Hooksett) and Jay Phinizy (D-Acworth) and PolitickerNH.com's James Pindell discussed presidential and state politics including Joel Maiola's resignation U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg's Chief of Staff. The conversation ended with Hess calling the latest numbers from the new education funding formula as a "total disaster".
