Prescott to run for Executive Council seat again

CONCORD -- Former state Sen. Russell Prescott (R-Kingston) will take a second shot at Executive Council this year, but he still remains unsure as to whether he will face a primary.

In an interview Prescott said that he has the support of both his primary opponents from 2006 for his run this time. In 2004, the Executive Council seat in District Three was vacated by longtime incumbent Ruth Griffin. Former state Sen. Chuck Morse (R-Salem) emerged as the nominee in the three way Republican primary, but was defeated by former Senate President Bev Hollingworth (D-Hampton).

"There are really so many people on the Seacoast who want me to run and they want to support me whether there is a primary or not," Prescott said. "And that is really exciting."

Prescott, a one of the state's most prominent social conservative voices, lost his state Senate seat to Maggie Hassan (D-Exeter).
