The chairman of the Democratic National Congressional Committee in Washington said he wasn't worried about the fact that U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) is still not participating in a committee fund-raising program even as she faces a tough re-election fight.

U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), the DCCC chair, said that in fact it was typical of Shea-Porter to opt out of the DCCC "Frontline" program meant to help incumbent Democrats in tough races.

"She is an independent member of Congress and I think the fact she doesn't want to be in Frontline is consistent with her independent nature," said Van Hollen on a conference call with reporters.

Shea-Porter was first elected to Congress in 2006 when she beat incumbent Republican Jeb Bradley 51 percent to 49 percent.

New Hampshire's other Congressman, Paul Hodes (D-Concord), is participating in Frontline.
