President George Bush, and the Iraq war, continues to remain unpopular among Granite State residents.

Only 28 percent of New Hampshire adults approve of the job Bush is doing and 69 percent disapprove, according to a new Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.

"President George W. Bush remains very unpopular in New Hampshire which will likely hurt Republican chances in November," concludes UNH's Andy Smith.

The poll also finds that 23 percent approve of Bush's handling of the economy, 28 percent think Bush has mishandled American foreign policy and 74 percent say the country is heading in the wrong direction.

The war in Iraq continues to be unpopular in New Hampshire. 57 percent of respondents do not favor the war, while 40% support the war.

A majority, 56 percent, think the United States cannot win the war in Iraq. 56 percent of Republicans think the U.S. can win and 30 percent of Independent voters also think the country win. However, only 15 percent of Democrats think the U.S. can win in Iraq.
