Mahoney, Woods running unopposed for RNC posts

[img_assist|nid=1525|title=RNC Committeeman Sean Mahoney|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=200|height=134]Sean Mahoney and Phyllis Woods are currently running unopposed to represent New Hampshire before the Republican National Committee.

Mahoney and Woods are currently filling the positions that were vacated when Tom Rath and Nancy Merrill resigned to work on presidential campaigns.

Candidates for the RNC posts can step-forward the day of the election, but so far no one has publicly announced they intend to challenge either Mahoney or Woods.

"I have advocated for New Hampshire's first position in the Primary calendar and for the resources New Hampshire needs to turn the tide in 2008.  But the battle is far from over, as the continued assault on our time-tested Primary is sure [img_assist|nid=1528|title=RNC Committeewoman Phyllis Woods|desc=|link=none|url=undefined|align=right|width=150|height=195]to be as intense as ever this fall.  I look forward to continuing the fight for New Hampshire," Mahoney said in a statement.

"As I said during my campaign last summer, I am committed to serving for, not only the remainder of this term which ends with the convention in September, but for the full following term which runs from the convention until 2012," Woods said.

The election takes place this Sunday at the state Republican annual committee meeting, which is being held in Alton. At the meeting Republicans will also vote on various bylaw changes.
