This morning the Sunday morning talk shows were filled with discussions about the looming state budget deficit.

On WMUR's Close Up, the panel discussed the spending cap being purposed by the New Hampshire Advantage Coalition.

"I'm effectively a spending cap in Manchester," Mayor Frank Guinta (R-Manchester) said. "Because this is community based, I think it's been effective."

The panel also consisted of New Hampshire Democratic Party's Executive Director state Rep. David Scannell (D-Manchester), who Guinta wanted to fire because of his vote to decriminalize marijuana. Scannell worked for the Manchester school system before working for the state party.

The Union Leader's Tom Fahey and The Nashua Telegraph's Kevin Landrigan also discussed the budget deficit and a law abolishing cremation using lyre.

On Political Chowder, state Sens. Jackie Cilley (D-Barrington), Peter Bragdon (R-Milford) and state Reps. David Hess (R-Hooksett) and Suzanne Harvey (D-Nashua) talked about budget problems and pension reform. New England College professors Wayne Lesperance and Jim Walsh discussed potential vice presidential nominees and the U.S. Senate race between U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) and former governor Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury).
