Former state Rep. Paul LaFlamme (R-Nashua) has decided to run for the state senate.
LaFlamme will be competing for the seat being abandoned by state Sen. David Gottesman (D-Nashua).
"I'm bringing a specialized skillset to the Capitol when it's needed," LaFlamme said. "I have the ability to watch the bottom line."
LaFlamme said the budget crisis would be a priority for his campaign.
"With rising food prices and oil prices, everybody is struggling. While that is going on the state budget has expanded."
LaFlamme is a real estate broker who ran in 2004 for the same seat, but was defeated in a primary by Harry Haytayan.
"All the stars have aligned," he added.
Peggy Gilmour (D-Hollis) has also announced that she is running for the seat.
