Special session called to deal with budget

Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton), Senate President Sylvia Larsen (D-Concord) and House Speaker Terie Norelli (D-Portsmouth) will call for a special session tomorrow to deal with the budget deficit.

Lynch will ask the Executive Council to approve the special session that will take place after the House and Senate hold their regular sessions.

"Combined with the other actions we are taking, this special session will allow the legislature to consider a bill that will help our ongoing efforts to balance the budget and protect services to our most vulnerable citizens," Lynch said in a press release.

House Majority Leader Mary Jane Wallner (D-Concord) and Senate Majority Leader Joe Foster (D-Nashua) will introduce a bill that would require the Pease Development Authority to repay the state $10.5 million. The bill would also approve the bonding of school building aid and approve the bonding of $40 million building aid in 2009.
