Kenney Files for Governor

Concord--State Sen. Joe Kenney (R-Wakefield) officially filed for governor with the Secretary of State today.

The three term senator will be challenged by incumbent Governor John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) in November. Kenney is the only republican in the race for governor.

According to the Associated Press, Kenney said Lynch has led a spending spree in Concord that is setting the state up for an income or sales tax.

Lynch plans to file for re-election this week. He would be seeking a third term as governor.

The filing period ends Friday.
