New state director for Obama campaign

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign announced Mindy Myers as its choice for New Hampshire's State Director for the general election.

Myers, who will take a leave of absence from her position as Chief of Staff in the office of U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whithouse (D-R.I.), has promised to unify the state's Democrats in the months leading up to November.

"I'm excited to get to work with the great team in New Hampshire to put Barack Obama in the White House," Myers said in a statement. "Democrats were extremely energized in the hard-fought Granite State primary, and we'll be standing shoulder-to-shoulder to set a new course for this country this fall by electing Barack Obama, Jeanne Shaheen, and the Democratic ticket."

Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe touted Myers' prior campaign experience as one of the key reasons as to why she was selected.  Previously, Myers has served in the Legislative Affairs office of the Clinton Administration, worked for Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign, and acted as a senior advisor for former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle.
