A Concord Monitor analysis finds that freshmen U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) and U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) share more than just the same political affiliation.
"Both have sided with House Democratic leaders on about 98 percent of votes, according to congressional voting records records," The Monitor concluded. "Those percentages put Hodes and Shea-Porter in the top fifth of House members when it comes to voting with their own party."
Hodes and Shea-Porter defended their voting records saying it is the "right agenda."
"If the agenda is the right agenda, and the votes are the right votes for the country and New Hampshire, I will take those votes," Hodes said.
"I am very proud of this agenda," Shea-Porter said. "It's the agenda of the American people."
New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen said Hodes and Shea-Porter has not shown any independence from the House Democratic leadership.
"They have both voted lockstep with the Democratic leadership, showing no independence, and that surprises me," Cullen told The Monitor. "I thought they would at least pick some symbolic issue and publicly disagree with (House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi. They haven't done that."
