Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) told her Granite State supporters to support her former rival in the general election.

Clinton was appearing with U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) at a unity event in Unity.

"To anyone who voted for me and is now considering not to vote or vote for Sen. McCain, I strongly urge you to reconsider," Clinton said. "I was honored to be in this race with Barack and we had a spirited dialogue. That was the nicest way I could put it."

Obama said Clinton's candidacy would impact generations of women.

"They can do everything the boys can and they can do it in heels," Obama told the crowd.

He added that party members must unite as Americans.

"At this moment we must come together not just as Democrats but also as Americans."

Prior to Obama and Clinton speaking, the town's honorary mayor said he would consider voting for Obama.

"I voted for John McCain in the primary but I may be a part of this change, and I'm a lifelong Republican," Ken Hall said.

"The one consistency Barack Obama has going today is that he's once again surrounded himself with Democrats" RNC spokeswoman Blair Latoff said in a statement. "The problem he faces is that Democrats, like Republicans and independents, prefer a candidate who will work with the other party for the betterment of the country even when it isn't popular."
