Editors note: This is a daily summary of news about the U.S. Senate race between U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) and former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury).

Today in the U.S. Senate race both Shaheen and Sununu sent out last minute fundraising appeals.

"We were coming together around a shared vision for a brighter future while John Sununu and his special interest friends were practicing deception and division, attacking me with over $250,000 in swift-boat style radio ads and mailings," Shaheen wrote to supporters.

While, Sununu wrote to his supporters that "every dollar is critical and will help us respond to the negative advertising that Jeanne Shaheen and her liberal allies are running on television and radio. Her campaign is receiving thousands of dollars from union bosses and special interest groups. She also has enlisted the help of New York Senator Chuck Schumer's Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee to raise huge amounts of money from wealthy liberals."

The New Hampshire Democrats argue that Sununu's vote on Medicare reimbursements to doctors will lead to a "Medicare meltdown" tomorrow.

Sununu's congressional office announced that the U.S. Department of Labor has given New Hampshire $1.8 million in job training grants for the Upper Valley.
