Today in the U.S. Senate race

Editors note: This is a daily summary of news about the U.S. Senate race between U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) and former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury).

Today in the U.S. Senate race Shaheen was formally endorsed by the fire fighters of New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Democrats slammed Sununu on his Medicare reimbursement vote but the CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care defends Sununu's stance.

Politicker.com national columnist Reid Wilson says that if Sununu runs a campaign geared towards the base he could lose.

Shaheen said she was "honored" to be endorsed by the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire.

According to the New Hampshire Democrats Sununu "voted against Medicare to protect insurance companies."

Charles Baker, CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, says Sununu has stood-up for New Hampshire seniors and should be "applauded" for his efforts. The Union Leader's editorial page also says that Sununu supported a bi-partisan solution that would have solved the problem.
