Shaheen breaks fundraising record

Former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen's (D-Madbury) campaign announced that they broke the New Hampshire fundraising record for a federal office candidate.

During the second fundraising record Shaheen raised $1.6 million for her U.S. Senate campaign.

"I am humbled by the outpouring of support we've seen from people who are looking for a new direction in Washington," Shaheen said in a campaign press release. "This support for my campaign reflects the tremendous desire for change that I see as I travel the state.  People are ready for a leader in Washington who puts New Hampshire families, not special interests, first."

According to her campaign, Shaheen's average donation was $178 and the campaign received donations from 7,400 individuals. In the last five days of the quarter, Shaheen raised over $200,000.
