McCain open to expanded Seabrook plant

U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) told The Union Leader that he has to closely examine the possibility of opening Seabrook Unit 2. The unit is a part of the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant located on the New Hampshire Seacoast but the unit has never been opened.

"I've been told, and I'm not an expert on it, but I've been told that that may have some viability," MCain told The Union Leaders' John DiStaso. "But I'd like to look at it some more."

McCain has said he would wants to build 45 nuclear power plants in the United States by 2030.

The Seabrook power plant has been fully operating since 1990.
