Clegg compares Bosse-Horn spat to school yard

State Sen. Bob Clegg (R-Hudson) says he thinks the recent fight between his rivals Grant Bosse (R-Hillsboro) and Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua) is similar to one in a school yard.

In an interview with PolitickerNH.com, Clegg also said that he can beat U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) in the 2nd Congressional District in November.

"I don't think this helps government or campaigns. This sounds like when I was six years old in the school yard," he said. "What helps is when I talk about issues facing people. What color Jennifer's dress is doesn't matter."

Clegg then compared the Bosse-Horn rivalry to the gridlock in Washington, D.C.

"I think it echoes what's wrong in Washington, it's all about finger pointing," Clegg said. "This is a perfect example of Washington and I'm not going to get involved."

Last week, Bosse filed an Federal Elections Commission complaint against Horn and the two campaigns have been engaged in a well-publicized fight since then.

Clegg added that he feels that the momentum is on his side. "I feel the momentum, it builds it rolls."

He also cited his experience as a key factor in his campaign. "I've got 14 years of proof that I can sit down and craft legislation with anyone."

Despite a recent University of New Hampshire poll that shows Hodes beating Clegg by almost 20 points, Clegg said he can beat the freshman congressman.

"I know I can beat Paul Hodes. I don't want him to think that until November because I want him to be lazy. He has spent $230,000 telling people how great he is and he's under 50 percent. Just imagine where he'd be if he didn't spent that money," Clegg said mentioning money Hodes has used on mailers to the 2nd district.
