Stephen begins first radio ad featuring Thompson

Former Health and Human Services Commissioner John Stephen (R-Manchester) has released a radio ad featuring Tommy Thompson.

In the ad, Thompson, a former Wisconsin governor and former secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, praises Stephen for his efforts to reform welfare.

"Thanks to John's efforts more people every day are finding work and getting off welfare," Thompson says. "I should know, I'm Tommy Thompson, former cabinet secretary for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We saw states all around the country grappling with welfare reform.  No one did a better job than John Stephen."

Stephen said the ad "means a lot."

"Governor Thompson led efforts on welfare reform in the early 1990's when no one else was talking about making changes," Stephen added in a press release. "He knows what works and what doesn't. To have him say that no one did a better job than we did here in New Hampshire means a lot."
