Chet Edwards, possible Obama running mate, to visit N.H.

U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards (D-Texas), who is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's choice to become Barack Obama's vice presidential running mate, is scheduled to appear in the Granite State this weekend at a campaign event for U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester).

"I didn't want to see a discussion of candidates for vice president without showing the House of Representatives... I just wanted people to be aware of the extraordinary credentials of Chet Edwards. And I hope he will be the nominee," Pelosi said earlier this month, according to CNN.

Edwards is scheduled to help launch the "Veterans and Military Families for Carol Shea-Porter" group in Manchester. He is also the chairman of the House Appropriations subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs.

Also attending the event will be state Sen. Lou D'Allesandro, Manchester Alderman Mike Lopez and former House Minority Leader Jim Craig.
