Napolitano tells N.H. delegation: West turning blue

DENVER-Gov. Janet Napolitano (D-Ariz.) told New Hampshire delegates that the western part of the country will be a battleground area for the presidential campaign.

"Welcome to the West where we're going to pile-up some electoral votes for Barack Obama," Napolitano told delegates at their morning breakfast. "As the population is growing it is becoming less-and-less red and more-and-more blue. And it is happening because we're talking to Democrats, Republicans and independents about issues they're concerned about."

Napolitano, the governor of U.S. Sen. John McCain's home state, also poked fun at McCain's comments last week that he did not how many houses he owns.

"It is Arizona and by the way most of us have one house," she said. "I'm probably the only governor with a gubernatorial condo in the United States and I know where it is."

Napolitano owns a condo. Arizona does not have traditional governor's mansion.

She finished her speech by arguing that there are huge differences between McCain and his rival U.S. Sen. Barack Obama.

"The contrast couldn't be more stark."
