A new poll conducted by the National Republican Senatorial Committee shows former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen  leading U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) by two percentage points.

According to the poll, Shaheen is beating Sununu 46 percent to 44 percent. The poll also showed that Sununu has a favorable rating of 50 percent and unfavorable of 36 percent, while Shaheen has a favorable rating of 53 percent and unfavorable rating of 37 percent.

A polling memo concluded that "Senator Sununu has made up ground both on his image and on the U.S. Senate Ballot test. Both candidates are below 50% on the ballot - this campaign will undoubtedly be a hard fought race to Election Day."

"The results of the most recent polls in Colorado and New Hampshire show that the momentum is swinging towards Republicans," NRSC spokesperson Mary-Sarah Kinner said in a press release."The polls, conducted after the Democrat Convention, are further evidence that in Colorado, the race is turning on the energy issue and in New Hampshire, voters are learning more and more about Jeanne Shaheen's record of failed leadership."

The poll was conducted by the Public Opinion Strategies and conducted between September 2nd-3rd. It had a sample size of 500 likely voters and a margin-of-error of 4.38 percent.
