Tobin sees philosophical different with Reynolds after primary win

State Rep. William Tobin said he is looking forward to his general election race with state Sen. Deb Reynolds, with whom he said he shares a "philosophical difference" about the role of government.

Tobin (R-Sanbornton) told PolitickerNH.com that he is looking forward to "redoubling our campaign programs" as his team shifts into gear for the general election.

The nominee said that he respects Reynolds (D-Plymouth) but fundamentally disagrees with her about the proper size of government.

"The big thing is not necessarily Debbie herself, we get along fine," Tobin said. "We have a philosophical difference of opinion of what the government. I want minimum government and as a result minimum tax. Debbie wants the opposite."

Tobin said that the more action the government takes, the more intrusive it becomes. "Every bill costs money," he said. "Every bill takes a freedom away. This is what I am vehemently against."

As far as his campaign, Tobin said he will step his efforts but said he doesn't think he needs to raise much more money. "I'm finding that we're working quite comfortably with what we have," he said. "We're not looking at big money or television, or any of the major items at this point."
