McCain visits Loudon

Republican presidential nominee U.S. Sen. John McCain spent the day campaigning in New Hampshire.

McCain visited the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon and stopped at J.W. Hills in Manchester.

According to The Washington Post, Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) and U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) joined McCain on stage to welcome race track fans to New Hampshire. On Saturday, Lynch spoke at a rally for McCain's rival, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, in Manchester.

Earlier a McCain spokesman told The Associated Press that the trip shows McCain's commitment to New Hampshire.

"In a state like New Hampshire, no one knows better than John McCain that it's direct voter contact that sways the electorate," Tucker Bounds said.

Yesterday Jim Demers, Obama's New Hampshire co-chair, told PolitickerNH.com that Obama's recent two-day trip shows the Illinois Senator is committed to meeting voters directly.

"The people of New Hampshire want more than a photo opportunity," Demers said.
