John Mendolusky, president of the New Hampshire Alliance for Retired Americans, said at a press conference that the group is endorsing Hodes because of his positions on Social Security and Medicare.

"Your positions demonstrate a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for older Americans," Mendolusky said at a press conference. "Your leadership on issues such as fighting Social Security privatization and strengthening Social Security and Medicare exhibit your commitment."

Hodes is running for re-election in the 2nd Congressional District against Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua).

"I can assure you that I will stand-up every day I am a member of the United States Congress for senior and retired citizens in New Hampshire," Hodes said. "I will make sure their voices are heard, I will listen and I will speak on their behalf forcefully and clearly."

The group also announced that they endorsed Barack Obama's presidential campaign because of his positions on issues affecting seniors.

Mendolusky said the group represents 23,000 senior citizens in New Hampshire.
