Barnes predicts McCain victory in N.H.

DOVER-- While handing out McCain-Palin yard signs, state Sen. Jack Barnes (R-Raymond) predicted that John McCain would carry New Hampshire.

"57 percent to 43 percent," Barnes told PolitickerNH.com after Sarah Palin's rally. "Let me the first to announce that number and make that prediction."

Barnes praised Palin's speech and said, "That lady is the 1st person in Dover High School history to hit a grand slam homerun outside the gymnasium."

He added, "I'm tickled-pick she's here."

Barnes also was telling rally attendees to put the signs "on the lawns across from Democratic neighbors."

Phyllis Woods, New Hampshire Republican National Committeewoman, said Palin appeals to "main street" voters.

"Even more than John McCain I think Sarah Palin speaks for the common man," Woods said. "She gets it and can speak to main street."

She also said that Palin's appearance would deliver "a shot of audreleine for the campaign."
