Bedingfield, Williams offer pre-debate spin

HENNIKER--The press officials of both U.S. Senate campaigns earned their paychecks before tonight's debate by offered a little spin to PolitickerNH.com.

Former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) and U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) are about to participate in the first live televised debate from New England College.

"What we'll see tonight is a very clear choice," Kate Bedingfield, Shaheen's communications director said. "Governor Shaheen will offer a clear economic vision that will benefit middle-class families."

Ryan Williams, Sununu's communications director, said that the freshman senator would discuss his record.

"I think we're going to see a strong debate performance from Senator Sununu," Williams said. "I think the Senator will talk about his effective record for New Hampshire."

Both communications directors said the previous debates have allowed voters to see a difference between the two candidates.

"I think it gives voters a great chance to look at the difference between the candidates," Williams said, while Bedingfield said, "I think it's given voters a unique opportunity to see what they're offering side-by-side."
