Bradley runs radio ad featuring ‘gold star mother’

Former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) has begun running a radio ad against his opponent current U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) that claims Shea-Porter did not return requests from a mother who lost her son in Afghanistan.

The ad features Natalie Healy, whose son Dan died in Afghanistan in 2005. In the ad Healy says that Shea-Porter has ignored her letters, a claim Shea-Porter's office has refuted.

"I've called Carol Shea-Porter as a mother, as one of her constituents, but she won't even take my call.  I've written to her, she just ignores me. I've called her three times, she won't call me back. My son gave his life for our country, and Carol Shea-Porter can't be bothered to talk to me?," Healy says in the radio ad.

Shea-Porter's congressional office released a statement that said Shea-Porter sent Healy responses in May 2008 and August 2007.

"With regard to Ms. Natalie Healy's claim that the office did not respond to her contact, our confidential congressional constituent records indicate that Ms. Natalie Healy was sent responses to letters she sent Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter on May 19, 2008 and August 23, 2007," Mike Brown, Shea-Porter's chief-of-staff said in a statement.
