Schilling stumps for McCain in Red Sox nation

MANCHESTER--Red Sox icon Curt Schilling campaigned for Republican presidential nominee John McCain in a crowded Manchester bar.

Schilling told PolitickerNH.com that he was in the Granite State because McCain asked the World Series champion to talk to voters about McCain's campaign.

Schilling said that he thinks the race between McCain and Barack Obama is closer, despite polls that show McCain trailing Obama.

"It depends how much you believe and what you want to believe," Schilling said when asked about the polls.

He added, "I'd like to think it's much closer."

Schilling also said he is worried about increased government spending if Obama is elected in November.

"I could give a crap what tax bracket I fall into under their platform, I'm going to pay taxes no matter who's in office," Schilling said. "What I care about is what they do with the money once it's in the system."

Schilling denied he was interested in political office in 2010.

"No, not all," he said.
