Gallus hitting the pavement in re-election bid

Incumbent state Sen. John Gallus (R-Berlin) told PolitickerNH.com that he is working 12 to 14 hour days trying to get re-elected to the Senate District 1 seat.

Gallus is running for re-election against state Rep. Martha McLeod (D-Franconia).

"This is the hardest we've worked in a long time over many campaigns. I'm a ground campaigner and that's what I've been doing," Gallus said in an interview. "There's not a day that goes by that I don't put in 12, 14 hours, we're always doing something. This is a giant district and we've been everywhere."

Gallus added, "We feel real good and feel that we're in good shape."

Gallus also said that he has been getting a good response from voters that he has met along the campaign trail.

"It's heartwarming I've had a lot of people come out who think that I'm working hard that this is a hard race," Gallus said. "It's kind of rewarding. Sometimes you think no one is paying attention then you find that you have that kind of support."

When asked if he was nervous about the challenge from McLeod, Gallus said, "Not at all. Early on I might have been concerned about the challenge but you know it's nothing. You know I'm out there working as hard as possible."
