Clemons calls state senate races ‘tight’

NASHUA--State Rep. Jane Clemons (D-Nashua) said that she expects both state senate races in Nashua to be "tight" on Election Day.

In state senate District 13, state Rep. Betty Lasky (D-Nashua) is running against Nashua school board member Sandra Ziehm (R-Nashua), while voters in state senate District 12 are witnessing a three-way race between Paul LaFlamme (R-Nashua), Peggy Gilmour (D-Hollis) and state Rep. Betty Hall (I-Hollis).

"I think both of them are going to be tight on election night," Clemons told PolitickerNH.com.

Clemons said in the District 13 race Lasky has the benefit of well-known name recognition. "I do believe that there's no one in Nashua that doesn't know Betty Lasky," Clemons said.

Discussing the District 12 race, Clemons said, "Paul LaFlamme is well-known, and Betty Hall also is well-known, but I expect Peggy to win in a very tight race."

Clemons also said that Nashua is vital for candidates running statewide campaigns.

"We're the second largest city in New Hampshire and often it's our numbers that can put candidates over the top," Clemons said.
