Andy Smith, director of the UNH Survey Center, is predicting that the Democratic federal candidates will win in New Hampshire.
 
"Barack Obama looks to win New Hampshire by a comfortable margin on Tuesday. In the race for U.S. Senate, Shaheen should win a narrow victory over incumbent John Sununu," Smith writes in his latest poll. "In Congressional races, incumbent Paul Hodes is predicted to win New Hampshire's 2nd District and incumbent Carol Shea-Porter looks to pull out a narrow victory in the 1st District."
 
According to Sunday's UNH/WMUR tracking poll, Smith has Barack Obama beating John McCain 53 to 42 percent. Smith predicts Obama will win 54 percent to 45 percent.
 
In the U.S. Senate race, former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) is leading U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) 48 percent to 42 percent. Smith's final prediction is that Shaheen will win 52 percent to 47 percent.
 
In the 1st Congressional District, the poll shows U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) leading former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) 46 percent to 41 percent and Smith is predicting Shea-Porter will win 51 percent to 47 percent.
 
Finally, in the 2nd Congressional District, the UNH/WMUR poll has U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) leading Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua) 52 percent to 31 percent. Smith is predicting that Hodes will defeat Horn 59 percent to 40 percent.

"Eight hundred thirty-one (831) likely New Hampshire voters were interviewed between October 30 and November 2, 2008. The potential sampling error for the statewide survey is +/-3.4%. Four hundred twenty-five (425) likely 1st District voters were surveyed (margin of sampling error of +/- 4.8%) and 406 likely 2nd District voters were interviewed (margin of sampling error +/-4.9%)," Smith writes.
