State Sen. Betsi DeVries (D-Manchester) has won re-election in state senate district 18.

DeVries defeated challenger Doug Kruse (R-Manchester) in one of the most closely watched state senate races in the state.

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting DeVries defeated Kruse by 2,056 votes.

"It was a good race, we worked hard went door-to-door all summer long and put everything into it that we could," Kruse told PolitickerNH.com in an interview. "There's nothing that we would do differently."

Kruse also left the door open for running for other political offices in the future.

"This is just the beginning. I'm always looking for ways to serve the people of Manchester."
