Sununu thanks supporters in email

A week after losing to former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury), U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) has emailed supporters thanking them for helping his re-election campaign.

However, Sununu did not address questions about a grassroots movement trying draft him into running for the Republican National Committee Chairman, or rumors about his political future.

"Despite the disappointment of falling short in a well fought campaign, I feel the truth of Roosevelt's words more strongly today than ever before," Sununu wrote. "I am truly fortunate to have had the privilege to serve, proud to have made a difference, and optimistic that the future holds new challenges and opportunities that will prove equally rewarding."

Sununu began his e-mail with a quote from Teddy Roosevelt which states, "The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena...who spends himself in a worthy cause...and who at worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly."
