Woods says RNC must do ‘soul searching’

Republican National Committeewoman Phyllis Woods said the national Republican party should re-examine itself if it wants to remain relevant in the future.

"Everyone is a Monday morning quarterback and I'm not going to pretend that I'm the best one to analyze either what happened or exactly what needs to happen for us to rebuild our party at this point," Woods wrote in an email to PolitickerNH.com earlier today. "What I do know is that it's time for the RNC to do a lot of soul searching and look honestly at what we did wrong, what we did right and what needs to change."

Woods added, "We are pretty much in agreement that people have lost faith in the Republican Party actually following through on what we say we stand for."

Woods also said that the Republican Party should return to "common sense values and authenticity" if it wants to regain public confidence.

"Our first order of business needs to be to determine how we can begin to rebuild the public's trust by getting back to the common sense values and authenticity that has served us well in the past and is, I believe, characteristic of what mainstream Americans believe," Woods said.
