Wendelboe looks back at House GOP vote

State Rep. Fran Wendelboe (R-New Hampton) said that she will "honor" the vote for House Republican leader.

Wendelboe ran for the House Republican leader against state Reps. Gene Chandler (R-Bartlett) and John Reagan (R-Deerfield). Wendelboe dropped out after the second ballot and threw her support behind Chandler who lost to state Rep. Sherman Packard (R-Londonderry) on the third ballot.

Wendelboe said that she is looking forward to working with Packard but said that she supported Chandler because Packard has not demonstrated leadership in attempting to elect House Republicans.

"Gene in years past has shown great leadership. While Sherm is a nice guy I really haven't seen any leadership out of him, any effort to elect Republicans," Wendelboe told PolitickerNH.com.

Wendelboe said that Packard was absent during the recent state recounts and has not been "at the forefront" of Republican efforts.

"Questions because of his lack of involvement his lack of never being at the forefront of promoting Republican causes made me more confident in Gene's ability," Wendelboe added.

Wendelboe also said that she has not determined whether or not she will run for chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party.

"I don't really know what's in store for Fran," Wendelboe said. "I've received a couple of calls this morning and I'm keeping my options open."

Wendelboe ran for party chairman in 2007 but lost to current chairman Fergus Cullen. Wendelboe is also head of the Reagan Network, a grassroots organization for Granite State conservatives.
