Bradley outspent Shea-Porter in final weeks of campaign

Financial reports filed with the Federal Elections Commission show that in the final weeks of the campaign former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) outspent U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester).

However, the money advantage did help Bradley since he lost to Shea-Porter and Shea-Porter outspent, and outraised, Bradley for the entire cycle.

According to F.E.C. reports, Shea-Porter raised and spent $1.5 million during the election cycle. In the final three weeks of the campaign, she raised $219,173 and spent $338,743, which left her committee with a balance $52,549. Shea-Porter raised $118,056 from individuals and $102,656 from various political action committees.

Bradley raised just over $1 million and spent $1.4 million for the election cycle. From Oct. 16 through Nov. 24, Bradley raised $200,085 and spent $422,035. Bradley owns his committee $330,500 in loans, including a $59,500 loan he made in the final days of the campaign.

Both reports also demonstrate how they decided to spent their resources as they battled for the 1st Congressional District seat.

Shea-Porter gave $28,163 to 360 JMG LL for direct mail services and $125,000 to Buying Time LLC for a media buy. She gave the Human Rights Campaign $2,951 for salary and travel costs and $4,104 to the Sierra Club Political Committee for salaries, travel and list rental. She also spent $39,935 on staff salaries including $1,161 to her daughter Kathleen Shea-Porter.

Bradley for his part spent $18,130 on staff, including $1,575 to state Rep. David Boutin (R-Hooksett). Bradley also gave $24,636 to Public Opinion Strategies for polling and $320,821 to Pat Griffin's Merrimack+Potomac Group LLC for media services.
